Gland Packing

Gland packing, also known as compression packing, comprises materials like PTFE, graphite, or aramid fibers formed into a rope-like structure. It's utilized in sealing applications where a rotating or reciprocating shaft penetrates a housing, such as pumps or valves. Gland packing seals prevent leakage of fluids or gases while allowing the shaft to move freely. They conform to irregularities in the shaft and housing surfaces, providing a reliable and adjustable seal. Gland packing can be installed as a rope directly into the gland cavity or as pre-cut rings. Its flexibility, durability, and resistance to high temperatures and pressure make it indispensable in various industrial settings.
